WHAT DOES A PRACTICE OR BILLING

                    MONITOR DO?

The Practice monitor’s role is to assist the Dental Board in protecting the public. Equally important is the monitor’s role in assisting the Licensee, who may already be an experienced practitioner, to monitor and observe the Licensee’s skills, clinical procedures, office systems and conditions,  noting and addressing any activities or behaviors that led to the discipline or are not within the standard of care.

The Billing Monitors role is similar in nature with the ultimate goal of assisting and protecting the public and the Licensee, by reviewing and monitoring the business records which include but are not limited to:  EOB’s, ledger, clinical notes, progress notes, periodontal charting, radiographs, financial arrangements, lab slips and scanned images.

A monitor will submit written reports to the Dental Board or Judicial Agency, usually on a regularly defined schedule, providing an evaluation of the Licensee’s performance, including billing errors, omissions and/or questionable billing practices, based on document review.
